Israel accused Hamas of inflicting “psychological torment” as the militant group released three videos featuring hostages held in Gaza, with the latest video suggesting two hostages had been killed by Israeli bombing.
The Israeli Defense Minister stated that Hamas is resorting to psychological tactics due to being hit by the IDF.
The IDF has denied targeting the building where the hostages were held.
“Hamas are hit badly by the IDF and all that is left for them is to bring psychological torment to the families [of the hostages], leaving the IDF to clarify things for the families later,” claimed Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant.
“We do not strike in places where we know there may be hostages,” he continued.
“In hindsight, we know we struck targets near to the location where they were being held. We are investigating the event and its circumstances, examining the images distributed by Hamas, alongside additional information at our disposal,” explained the spokesman.
There is uncertainty about the authenticity of the videos.
Around 240 hostages were taken into Gaza in October, with Israel believing around 132 remain, and about 107 are still alive.
The situation involves a complex set of events, including the kidnapping of hostages, the exchange of prisoners, and the emotional impact on the families of the hostages.
