Former Department of Homeland Security official Miles Taylor claimed that Donald Trump sought to establish his own mercenary force within the U.S. military if re-elected, inspired by Vladimir Putin’s Wagner Group in Russia.

Taylor stated that he managed to halt discussions about this idea during his time in the administration.

“When I was in the administration, Donald Trump wanted to create his own mercenary force in the United States military,” Taylor stated.

“He saw what Vladimir Putin had with the Wagner group in Russia and he wanted to create his own version of this. This is a real story,” Taylor said.

Concerns about Trump’s potential actions have escalated, especially as he appears likely to become the Republican presidential nominee, with fears emerging about his potential impact on the national security establishment and the U.S. military.
