Tucson Sector Border Patrol agents apprehended nearly 12,000 migrants in a week, up from just under 10,000 the previous week.
The sector’s chief patrol agent reported 126 federal crime arrests, 22 migrant rescues, and ten disrupted human smuggling attempts during the same period.
The total number of migrants apprehended in the first three reporting periods of January was nearly 35,000, representing a significant increase compared to the same period last year.
Unofficial reports for December showed approximately 80,000 migrant apprehensions, bringing the year-to-date total to about 235,000 migrants.
