Swiss prosecutors confirmed that criminal complaints had been filed against Israeli President Isaac Herzog during his visit to the World Economic Forum in Davos.

The complaints are related to accusations of war crimes in Gaza. The Swiss Attorney General’s Office stated that the complaints would be examined according to standard procedure and that the issue of immunity would be assessed.

Details about the complaints and their origin were not disclosed.

“The criminal complaints will be examined according to the usual procedure,” the Office of the Swiss Attorney General stated.

Herzog had spoken at the World Economic Forum, urging the international community to reject genocide claims against Israel.

South Africa had filed a lawsuit with the International Court of Justice accusing Israel of genocide against Palestinians in Gaza, naming Herzog and other Israeli officials.

This comes in the wake of an Israeli offensive in Gaza, which has led to a significant humanitarian crisis.
