Florida Governor Ron DeSantis expressed regret for not engaging more with the national mainstream media during his presidential campaign, following a significant loss to former President Donald Trump in Iowa.
DeSantis said, “I should have just been blanketing. I should have gone on all the corporate shows.”
“We had an opportunity to come out of the gate and do that and reach a much broader folk,” he continued.
“Now, I’m everywhere. I mean, I’ll show up wherever,” he added.
Previously hostile to mainstream media, DeSantis has shifted his strategy, now willing to engage with outlets he previously criticized.
This change comes as he confronts low polling in New Hampshire’s presidential primary and shifts focus to the following contest in South Carolina.
DeSantis also criticized the right-wing media bubble for not holding Trump accountable, claiming they fear losing viewers.
DeSantis said, “They just don’t hold him accountable because they’re worried about losing viewers.”
“And they don’t want to have the ratings go down,” added DeSantis.
