Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that Israel is not only targeting Iran’s terrorist proxies but Iran itself.
He emphasized that Iran is the “head of the octopus” behind various proxy groups in the region and warned about the seriousness of Iran’s pursuit of nuclear weapons.
Netanyahu stressed the need to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons, citing the potential escalation if Iran were to possess them.
“Who says we aren’t attacking Iran? We are attacking Iran,” Netanyahu said.
“Iran is the head of the octopus and you see its tentacles all around from the Houthis to Hezbollah to Hamas,” he said. “Iran is standing behind it. We are in conflict with Iran.”
“Imagine if this is what Iran is doing now, when it doesn’t have nuclear weapons, how critical is it that we stop it from acquiring nuclear weapons,” he said.
“Iran has further phases to go through that I won’t detail on the path to nuclear weapons. I am obligated as the prime minister of Israel to do everything to prevent Iran from attaining nuclear weapons.”
The statement follows Iran’s strikes in Syria and Iraq, with Iran claiming to target facilities linked to Israel’s Mossad intelligence agency, an assertion Netanyahu dismissed as false.
