A former Mayo Clinic doctor, Connor Bowman, has been indicted on first-degree murder charges in the death of his pharmacist wife, Betty Bowman.

Prosecutors presented digital forensic evidence indicating that he purchased the lethal drug colchicine before her death.

The couple’s deteriorating relationship, financial troubles, and suspicious online searches further contribute to the case.

Betty’s death, initially attributed to organ failure, was later ruled a homicide caused by colchicine’s toxic effects.

Dan Lea, a communications specialist for the hospital, wrote, “Mayo Clinic is aware of the charges filed against a former resident which are unrelated to his Mayo Clinic responsibilities.”

“The resident’s training at Mayo Clinic ended in early October. We continue to extend our condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of Betty Bowman while the criminal case proceeds,” he continued.

The investigation also revealed Bowman’s potential financial gain from her death.

These events, combined with evidence of accessing her medical records, paint a troubling picture.
