“I am scared as heck,” replied Harris.
“There is an old saying that there are only two ways to run for office, either without an opponent or scared. So on all of those points, yes, we should all be scared, but as we know, and certainly, this is a table of very powerful women, we don’t run away from something when we’re scared. We fight back against it,” explained the Vice President.
“Right? So many of us know, when we are scared for our future of our children, do we stay in bed with the covers over our head? No,” she continued.
“We have to earn the re-elect, and we have to communicate what we have achieved,” said Harris.
“And that is going to be one of our big challenges. We’ve done a lot of good work, we have to let people know who brung it to them,” she explained.
When asked about President Biden’s low approval ratings and Trump’s lead in the polls, Harris highlighted the upcoming election as a choice between respecting democracy and competence versus chaos.
Harris said, “We are all starting to narrow in on what this election will mean and, frankly, in the midst of so many big issues challenging our world that, you know, are not binary, it’s not just one side or the other, on this one, there is a split screen you can throw up and see. And it’s going to be the choice between, what is about respecting our democracy, what is about competence, versus chaos.”
President Biden’s approval rating has dropped to 31%, the lowest in 15 years, with 58% disapproving of his performance.
Despite these challenges, Harris expressed confidence in their ability to win, stating that they had beaten Trump before and could do so again.
“Well, let me just tell you this. No matter who the Republican nominee is, we’re winning. We’re winning,” exclaimed Harris about her campaign.
“I don’t know, but look, if it is Donald Trump, we beat him before and we’ll beat him again,” promised the Vice President.
