Tesla owners in the Chicago area are facing difficulties charging their electric vehicles due to freezing temperatures, with some cars getting stranded and towed.

The cold weather has led to long wait times at charging stations, causing some vehicles to die while waiting.

According to Tesla’s website, it is “normal to see energy consumption increase.”

Musk said drivers may notice “reduced regenerative braking and acceleration,” at certain temperatures.

Tesla advises keeping vehicles plugged in and maintaining a charge level above 20% to minimize the impact of cold temperatures.
