A Chicago man is suing 27 women for defamation, doxing, and invasion of privacy over negative comments posted in a private Facebook group called “Are We Dating the Same Guy?”
The group, part of a network of women-only pages, allows women to share information about men they’ve dated, asking for experiences and warnings.
The man claims his reputation was tarnished after women shared his name and photo, leading to a flurry of defamatory comments.
“Very clingy very fast. Flaunted money very awkwardly and kept talking about how I don’t want to see his bad side, especially when he was on business calls,” recalled a commenter.
“I went out with him a few times just over a year ago — he told me what I wanted to hear until I slept with him and then he ghosted… I’d steer clear,” warned another user.
“He’s been posted here before,” wrote a third person.
“The poster said he sent her a slew of texts calling her names because she didn’t want to spend the night with him,” they added.
The man claimed in the lawsuit, that, “The defendants broadcast their outrageous, cruel, and malicious lies about the plaintiff with knowledge that the statements were false or with reckless disregard as whether or not they were true.”
He claims t that the females’ “wrongful conduct is so outrageous in character and so extreme in degree that it is beyond all possible bounds of decency and is to be regarded as atrocious and utterly intolerable in a civilized community.”
He is seeking $75 million in damages and is targeting both the individuals and the moderators of the Facebook page, as well as parts of Meta, Facebook’s parent company, in his lawsuit.
The “Are We Dating the Same Guy?” Facebook page exists for various major cities, each boasting tens of thousands of members, and members are only accepted after verification as actual women.
