An Oklahoma father, Elliott Binney, fled the scene after crashing his car, leaving his injured wife and children, including his 16-year-old daughter, who later died.
Binney had injuries and was found with alcohol and pill bottles in his car.
He admitted to drinking before the crash.
“He walked to a family-owned business and retrieved a vehicle. We were able to track this vehicle electronically and ultimately made an arrest in the case,” Bixby Police Chief Todd Blish said.
He was apprehended the next morning, charged with various offenses, and released on bond.
Binney has a history of reckless driving and hit-and-runs, including previous DUIs and charges for leaving the scene of an accident.
His daughter, Shelby Binney, was a sophomore and cheerleader at Bixby High School.
