A cargo plane, Flight 5Y095, experienced an engine malfunction shortly after departing from Miami International Airport.
The Atlas Air Boeing 747-8 cargo plane turned back and landed safely within an hour.
Witnesses reported seeing flames coming from the plane’s left wing, but Miami-Dade Fire Rescue confirmed a safe landing with no reported injuries.
“The crew followed all standard procedures and safely returned to MIA,” the statement read.

The incident has prompted a thorough inspection to determine the cause of the malfunction.
Additionally, the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) temporarily grounded certain aircraft for safety checks following the incident.
