Former President Donald Trump is reportedly considering Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY) as a potential vice presidential pick due to her loyalty.
Trump insiders have indicated that Stefanik’s loyalty is a key attribute he seeks in a running mate, especially in light of his perception of Mike Pence’s disloyalty.
A Republican campaign operative said, Rep. Stefanik “possesses one of the key attributes he’s looking for in a 2024 running mate: loyalty.”
“If you’re Trump, you want someone who’s loyal above all else. Particularly because he sees Mike Pence as having made a fatal sin,” they continued.
The discussion of Stefanik as a potential VP arose during a dinner at Mar-a-Lago, where attendees praised her for grilling university presidents on antisemitism.
While Stefanik was once considered a moderate Republican, she has become a staunch defender of Trump and has faced criticism from conservatives for her actions.
Despite this, her leadership in the House has been praised, and she expressed willingness to serve in any capacity in a Trump administration.
Trump reportedly “raved about [Stefanik’s] viral moment just weeks before, when she grilled three university presidents at a congressional hearing about antisemitism on campus.”
“She’s a killer,” said the former president about Stefanik.
Speaker Johnson said, “She’s one of the best leaders and best communicators in Congress.”
Stefanik said, “Well, I, of course, would be honored to serve in any capacity in a Trump administration.”
