House Republicans have postponed plans to hold Hunter Biden in contempt of Congress, citing ongoing negotiations with his attorneys.
The decision to advance the contempt resolution has been put on hold to allow additional time for an agreement to be reached.
This comes after an indication from Hunter Biden’s attorney of a willingness to cooperate with the ongoing impeachment inquiry, contingent on the issuance of a new subpoena.
The legal team cited a 2020 opinion by then-Attorney General William Barr, stating that a subpoena issued before the full House authorized the impeachment inquiry has “no compulsory effect.”

If negotiations fail and the resolution proceeds, it would be referred to the Department of Justice for potential prosecution.
The inquiry into President Joe Biden’s son has been a focal point in the ongoing investigation.
