A recent Gallup poll revealed that 68% of Americans view the Supreme Court’s decision to eliminate race and ethnicity considerations from university admissions as “mostly a good thing.”
The breakdown by ethnicity showed that 52% of Black adults agreed with the decision, while 48% disagreed.
The decision was perceived as having a negative impact on higher education by half of Black adults, with differing views among other ethnic groups.
The survey also highlighted concerns about declining Black enrollment and the challenges faced by Black students in pursuing higher education.

“The Supreme Court decision comes at a precarious time for Black Americans considering pursuing higher education, as Black enrollment has been on the decline for more than a decade and Black students are more likely than any other students to be juggling competing priorities that hamper their ability to complete a degree,” Gallup wrote.
