The Biden administration claimed that Texas prevented Border Patrol agents from rescuing drowned migrants, but the Department of Justice’s account contradicts this.

The DOJ stated that the Texas authorities were not involved in preventing the rescue.

This allegation followed Texas taking control of a park previously used by Border Patrol.

The Texas Military Department also denied the claim.

“At no time did TMD security personnel along the river observe any distressed migrants, nor did TMD turn back any illegal immigrants from the US during this period,” the department stated.

U.S. Rep. Henry Cuellar blamed Texas for the deaths, while Texas continues to secure its border amid a surge of illegal immigration, including a record-breaking number of encounters at the southern border.
