Pierce Brosnan pleaded not guilty to walking in a restricted hot spring at Yellowstone National Park, facing a maximum penalty of six months in prison.
The incident occurred in November 2023, and Brosnan was cited twice for violations.
The area is both fragile and dangerous, with water temperatures reaching 161 degrees and potential skin-scalding acid.
The park has clear warnings about the dangers of the thermal springs, and previous violators have faced fines and bans from the park.
“Boardwalks and trails protect you and delicate thermal formations,” the NPS website stated.
“Water in hot springs can cause severe or fatal burns, and scalding water underlies most of the thin, breakable crust around hot springs.”
Additionally, at least 22 people have died from burns received from the springs and geysers in the park.
