73-year-old Albert Marcu thwarted a robbery attempt at his workplace using a .38 caliber pistol, prompting the suspects to flee.

The incident sheds light on the crime surge in California, partly attributed to lenient criminal justice policies.

Progressive prosecutors’ soft approaches to crime have faced backlash, as they have failed to ensure public safety. (Trending: Joe Biden’s Approval Crashes To New Low)

Marcu said, “I was preparing for this type of situation by looking around at what’s going on here in [the] Bay Area, San Francisco. My neighbors, my colleagues get robbed.”

“They ran because they saw my gun, and, you know, I was serious about it,” suggested the 73-year-old.

“They panicked, and they ran out,” he added.

The passage of Proposition 47 and bail reform have been controversial.

The incident also highlights the debate around citizens’ right to bear arms for self-defense, especially in the face of inadequate law enforcement.

Former San Francisco DA Chesa Boudin’s campaign declared, “Jails do nothing to treat the root cause of crime.”

Fox News’ “Lawerence Jones, said, “What these people don’t understand — these social justice warriors — is these aren’t just poor people that are going and stealing things.”

“This is part of a criminal enterprise,” he continued.

“These people loot, they steal and then they give it over and turn it online and resell this stuff,” explained the host.
