Rebecca Romijn and John Stamos, former spouses, have publicly addressed their past relationship.
Stamos, in his book “If You Would Have Told Me: A Memoir,” described the pain of their breakup and how Romijn allegedly left him when her career was thriving and his was struggling.
Romijn expressed surprise at Stamos’ comments and chose not to engage further. (Trending: 2024 Miss America Winner Crowned)
“I was very surprised by all of that, incredibly shocked actually,” said Romijn. “I was sort of blindsided by it.”
“But you know, I don’t really want to help him sell his books based on those headlines. So that’s all I really want to say about it,” added Romijn.
Her current husband, Jerry O’Connell, also refrained from adding fuel to the fire, emphasizing the impact on their teenage children.
O’Connell said, “My wife’s ex-husband recently wrote a biography and it referred to my wife in a negative manner and a lot of people have asked me about that in press.”
“It would be easy for me to say like, ‘Screw you, how dare you ask me that,’ but really it would be bringing attention to a situation that I don’t want to feed into, you know what I’m saying?” he continued.
“There’s children involved. Teenage children who read everything on the internet. So you don’t want to like feed that fire,” explained O’Connell.

Stamos admitted to initially blaming Romijn for their split but later realized his own role.
“My first marriage was shattering to me. I was shattered for way too long, too,” said Stamos.
“I mean, a year, OK, good. But it went on [for] years and years,” he continued.
Stamos said, “In my mind back then, she was the Devil, and I just hated her.”
“I couldn’t believe how much I hated her, and it ruined my life,” admitted the actor.
“One of the steps in AA, the fourth step, is you lay out all your grievances, everything that people did to you. And then I said, ‘Oh, she did this, she did that, blah, blah, she did blah, blah.’ And then my sponsor goes, ‘Now what part did you play in that?’ And I go, like, ‘None,'” recalled Stamos.
“You start thinking, it’s like, ‘Oh, she wasn’t the Devil. Maybe I was as much to blame as her,'” he continued.
“It was very much the opinion that she dumped me because her career was going great and mine wasn’t, and that’s humiliating,” said Stamos.
“I don’t blame her for it. It was just the perception that people took, and maybe they weren’t wrong. She was doing great at that time and I wasn’t,” he explained.
He also acknowledged the impact of their breakup on his drinking. Both have moved on, with Romijn married to O’Connell and Stamos to Caitlin McHugh.
“That’s when I really started to kind of drink a lot,” admitted Stamos.
“But without that, I never would’ve known what a real love is, and I would’ve never straightened up to get someone like Caitlin in my life,” he concluded.
They have not met since their divorce.
