E. Jean Carroll’s lawyer insists that Donald Trump, whom she accused of assault, must pay for defaming her.

Trump, facing various legal battles, attended the trial’s first day where lawyers painted contrasting pictures of the case.

The trial will focus on determining potential damages for Trump’s defamatory statements. (Trending: Two Names Emerge As Trump’s Possible 2024 Running Mate)

Both sides presented their arguments, with Carroll’s lawyer emphasizing the impact of Trump’s statements on her safety and well-being.

“It’s time to make him stop. It’s time to make him pay dearly for what he’s done,” Carroll’s attorney Shawn Crowley said of Trump.

Trump’s lawyer suggested that Carroll sought attention and prosperity through the allegations.

“Her career has prospered and she has been thrust back into the limelight like she always wanted,” Trump attorney Alina Habba said. “She wanted the attention.”

“It is a giant Election Interference Scam, pushed and financed by political operatives. I had no idea who this woman was,” Trump wrote online. “PURE FICTION!”

“I’ll say it with great respect: Number one, she’s not my type. Number two, it never happened. It never happened, OK?” Trump said previously.

The trial’s proceedings were marked by Trump’s objections and attempts to delay the trial.

The jury selection process included interactions between Trump and potential jurors with connections to him or the case.
