A CBS News survey shows that a significant number of voters, especially Republicans, agree with Donald Trump’s “poisoning the blood” language when describing immigrants entering the U.S. illegally.
“We asked registered voters whether they agreed or disagreed with this statement in two ways. Half of survey respondents were simply asked about ‘poisoning the blood’ without attributing the language to anyone, while the other half were told Trump said it. Either way we ask, most Republican voters agree,” the report noted.
A majority of Republican primary voters in CBS News polling — 81% — said that they agreed with President Trump's statement that immigrants are "poisoning the blood of our country," and 47% of voters overall said they agreed with it. pic.twitter.com/aNPGCkjnyR

When the language is attributed to Trump, Republican voters are even more likely to agree, with a 10 percentage point increase in agreement.
This effect is even more pronounced among the MAGA segment of the party and Republicans supporting Trump for the 2024 nomination, with a 16-point increase in agreement when the language is linked to Trump.
