Republican presidential candidate Ron DeSantis claimed that some Republicans who publicly endorse Donald Trump have privately told him they will vote for him in the GOP primary.

He expressed concerns about Trump’s focus on loyalty over conservative principles and stated that the party should not detach from its core values.

A recent poll shows Trump as the first choice for 48% of respondents, while DeSantis follows with 16%. Former U.S. Ambassador Nikki Haley is preferred by 20%. (Trending: Hunter Biden’s Art Scheme Exposed By GOP Probe)

DeSantis said, “I do know elected officials who encouraged me to run and say they’re going to vote for me in a primary but yet have endorsed Donald Trump.”
“That’s just the reality of the situation,” he continued.

“What we can’t have as a party is that our movement is detached from the underlying principles and issues that we’re trying to advocate on behalf of the American people,” insisted the Florida governor.

“And I think Trump is trying to make it to where someone that kisses the ring, even if they’re not faithful to the core conservative values, somehow they’re a member in good standing just by doing that,” he concluded.
