Hamas released a video on the 100th day of the war, showing three Israeli hostages urging their government to stop the offensive against Hamas.
The hostages’ fate remains uncertain, with Hamas claiming to have lost contact with some of them.
Israeli officials have largely dismissed Hamas’ public messages, but are aware of the risks to the hostages from their offensive.
“The military operation takes time. It obligates us to be precise, and we are adapting it in accordance with the threats and the hostages who are in the field,” Rear-Admiral Daniel Hagari said.
The hostage crisis has deeply affected Israelis, with some calling for a truce.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has vowed to continue the fight until Hamas is destroyed, linking it to the hostages’ release.
