In Silicon Valley, concerns are rising about the potential impact of advanced artificial intelligence on the 2024 elections.
There are worries about AI being used to create “disturbingly false” political ads, with examples of AI-generated content already being employed in campaign strategies.
People fear that voters may struggle to differentiate between real and AI-generated content, potentially leading to manipulation and a lack of trust in what they see and hear. (Trending: Hunter Biden’s Art Scheme Exposed By GOP Probe)
Travis, of San Jose, Cailfornia, said, “I’ve seen some hilarious videos and some concerning ones where it’s getting too realistic. It’s a little creepy,” he added.
A local named Richard said, “I think it will worsen the circumstances with fake postings.”
“I think a lot of the political advertising has the potential to become disturbingly false using AI. It’s gradually improving significantly, and I think there’s a tremendous motivation for people trying to push a particular agenda,” he continued.
Claire said, “People aren’t going to be able to distinguish between AI and real reporting. What’s fake and what’s real was already kind of an issue with 2020, and I think it’s going to continue to get worse in 2024 because some of it is extremely convincing,” she added.
Steve said, “I think AI will be used to manipulate people into doing things that they’re not quite sure they wanted to do.”
“That’s going to be a big impact that goes under the radar. I think public opinion will be shaped in a large way,” said the Californian.
“I think there’s going to be a period where we’re going to be influenced by what AI presents,” Steve continued. “It’s going to take some time for people to kind of wise up and understand that we live in a different world,” predicted Steve.
The use of AI in political advertising is seen as a significant factor that could shape public opinion and influence voting decisions, prompting the need for people to become more discerning in this new era.
