A video portraying Donald Trump as a messianic figure has sparked controversy among Iowa evangelicals ahead of the Iowa Republican caucuses.
The video, titled “God Made Trump,” features religious references and has been criticized by pastors for demeaning Christianity.
Winning over evangelicals is crucial for success in the Iowa caucuses, and Trump is widely favored among this demographic. (Trending: Trump Responds To Biden’s Bombing In Yemen)

Trump is described as “a man who cares for the flock” and “a shepherd to mankind who won’t ever leave nor forsake them,” in the campaign ad.
Michael Demastus, pastor of the Fort Des Moines Church of Christ, said, “I find it absolutely sickening, period.”
“Trump is not the Messiah,” he clarified.
The narrator says in the video, “And on June 14, 1946, God looked down on his planned paradise and said, ‘I need a caretaker,’ so God gave us Trump.”
The video celebrates Trump for “finish(ing) a hard week’s work by attending church on Sunday.”
While some dispute Trump’s faith, many evangelicals credit him for his conservative policies, particularly on social issues.
Despite his personal controversies, Trump maintains a strong lead in polling for the caucuses.
Pastors Amann and Demastus, part of the Faith Wins group, are refraining from endorsing any candidate this election cycle.
Demastus has previously called Trump “the most pro-life president we have ever had.”
“Many other evangelical pastors find that video offensive,” said the pastor about this current ad.
Terry Amann, pastor of the Church of the Way in Des Moines, said, “Christians have no right to be offended by anything since Christ went to the cross totally innocent for us guilty sinners.”
“That being said, (the video) demeans Christianity, Trump and the people who made it. It says a lot about the people around Trump and their ‘worldly’ understanding of Christianity,” added Amann.
“I read that some of those classified documents they found in Mar-a-Lago were actually stuck in the president’s Bible,” said Pence.
“Which proves he had absolutely no idea they were there,” joked the former vice president.
“I haven’t endorsed a candidate,” said Demastus.
“But the one thing I’m happy about is I don’t have to explain away the awful stuff a candidate is sharing,” he added.
