Rep. Tony Gonzales, whose district covers over 800 miles of the U.S.-Mexico border, expressed concern about serious terrorist threats at the southern border, citing classified intelligence that he cannot disclose.

He emphasized the need for bipartisan unity in addressing the issue, highlighting the impact of terrorism on all Americans.

Gonzales attributed the surge in illegal immigration to the influence of Mexican drug cartels and called for increased pressure on them. (Trending: Trump Responds To Biden’s Bombing In Yemen)

He also criticized the Biden administration’s response to the crisis, stating that without appropriate action, the situation will continue to escalate.

“At the very beginning of this and throughout I always felt that maybe that was the nexus that could unite us,” said Gonzales.

“Because once again, when a terrorist action happens, it kills all Americans. They’re just trying to kill Americans, not Republicans or Democrats or any of these other things,” he continued.

“The root cause of this crisis is the cartels,” explained the Texas republican.

“The cartels determine all of it. And this is where we have to put pressure on them. And the other piece of it, too, the Biden administration may be saying some of the right things, but they’re not doing some of the right things. And until they start doing some of the right things, this crisis is only going to continue to boil up,” he concluded.
