Democratic Congressman Adam Schiff has proposed a radical plan to overhaul American institutions, including abolishing the Electoral College, expanding the Supreme Court, and eliminating the filibuster.
Schiff, known for his role in the first impeachment of President Donald Trump, sees this as essential for safeguarding democracy, despite concerns about the stability of pure democracy raised by the Founding Fathers.
The proposal reflects a broader trend among leading Democrats to challenge traditional republican institutions in favor of more direct democracy, raising concerns about the potential impact on the country’s governance. (Trending: Trump Responds To Biden’s Bombing In Yemen)

Schiff said, “I think our democracy is at more grave risk now than ever.”
“And it’s clear that that issue is going to be front and center — and needs to be front and center — on the national stage,” he continued.
Senator Bernie Sanders said, “[I]t is hard to defend a system in which we have a president who lost the popular vote by three million votes.”
According to John Koza, the chairman of the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact (NPVIC), their organization hopes to “equalize [individuals’] votes among states across the country.”
NPVIC claims their stratedy ensures “[e]very vote of every voter in every state would count directly towards the presidential candidate that voter wants see to be president, so it would make every voter in every state equal.”
