Trump’s attorney, John Sauer, defended Trump, noting that the former President should have immunity from prosecution related to election interference because his actions were part of his duty as commander in chief.
Additionally, attorney Alina Habba “defended the immunity argument on Sean Hannity’s show brought by a Trump attorney during a Tuesday hearing, saying that Trump ‘didn’t kill anyone,’” one report noted.
Sauer also suggested that even ordering an assassination would be barred under the broad immunity to criminal prosecution, indicating that impeachment and conviction would be necessary in such a case.

There are some judges, I could have the best legal arguments .. but if I’m representing Trump they won’t hear a word out of my mouth. She screwed them. “When Sauer was asked during his appearance in front of the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals panel if the president would be persecuted if he ordered SEAL Team Six to assassinate a political rival, he responded by saying that the action would be barred considering a former executive’s broad immunity to criminal prosecution,” one report noted.
“He would have to be impeached and convicted,” Sauer said when asked.
