Hunter Biden is set to appear in a California court on tax charges, accused of failing to pay $1.4 million in taxes from 2016 to 2020.

The charges allege that he earned money from foreign entities and lived extravagantly while not paying taxes.

The back taxes were paid in 2020 by a third party. (Trending: GOP Rep. Mace Clashes Directly With Hunter Biden At Hearing)

Hunter Biden also faces felony gun charges and has moved to have them dismissed.

His attorney claims the charges would not have been brought if his last name were not Biden.

“Hunter Biden was and is a private citizen,” attorney Abbe Lowell said. “Despite this, Republicans have sought to use him as a surrogate to attack his father.”

This appearance follows a surprise showing at a House Oversight committee hearing on a GOP-led probe into his family’s business affairs, where he offered to testify publicly.

The White House has stated that President Biden was never in business with his son.
