Three individuals, including former Republican gubernatorial candidates and a political consultant, were part of a preliminary examination for a case involving fraudulent nominating petition signatures.

The accused operated a criminal enterprise, charging campaigns for valid signature collection but delivering forged signatures.

As a result, several candidates were disqualified from appearing on the ballot.

The examination aims to determine if there is sufficient evidence to sustain the charges, and the defendants may stand trial based on the ruling.

Additionally, one of the accused faces separate charges related to filing false tax returns.
