During his New York fraud trial, former President Donald Trump launched into a tirade during closing arguments, ignoring the judge’s instructions and claiming the case was a political witch hunt.
Trump also criticized New York Attorney General Letitia James and insisted on damages for what he perceived as unfair treatment.

Trump said, “Well I think, your honor, this case goes outside the facts.”
“The financial statements were perfect. The banks got all their money back. They were as happy as can be,” he continued.
Trump reportedly added the that the trial was a “political witch hunt that should be set aside.”
“We should receive damages for what we’ve gone through,” the former president exclaimed.
“I’m an innocent man. I’ve been persecuted by someone running for office,” Trump insisted.
“This statute is vicious. It doesn’t give me a jury. It takes away my rights,” added Trump.
“This is a fraud on me. What’s happened here sir is a fraud on me. They found nothing and now she comes in and says she wants to make a $250 million fine a [$370 million], for what!?” Trump continued.
“Haven’t you been sued before? Isn’t that a problem?” Judge Engoron asked Trump.
“They should pay me for what we’ve gone through — reputation and else,” Trump replied.
“Mr. Kise, please control your client,” Judge Engoron said to Trump’s attorney.
