Public trust in institutions, particularly scientific experts, has significantly eroded in recent years, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Dr. Anthony Fauci’s testimony before a House subcommittee has raised questions about his credibility, as he appeared to contradict previous statements and misled Congress on issues such as the origins of the virus and funding for gain-of-function research in Wuhan.
“In earlier congressional testimony, Fauci had said America does not fund ‘gain-of-function research’ in Wuhan,” one report noted. (Trending: Anthony Fauci Questioned About Evidence Behind COVID Restrictions)

“He also happens to have approved all foreign and domestic NIAID grants. We know from a 2020 email that Fauci knew full well about the gain-of-function research in Wuhan.”
“Now he says that he was wrong to say that he knew that,” the report added.
This has contributed to a widespread loss of faith in scientific experts, with public confidence in scientists declining sharply.
