Former President Donald Trump discussed his role in overturning the right to abortion, emphasizing his caution to fellow Republicans when addressing the issue.
He mentioned his nomination of three Supreme Court justices who voted to overturn Roe v. Wade and expressed support for exceptions in abortion bans.
When questioned whether he wants to “protect all life without compromise,” Trump said, “Nobody has done more in that regard. (But) I happen to be for the exceptions like Ronald Reagan, with the life of the mother, rape, incest. I just have to be there, I feel.” (Trending: Fauci’s COVID Missteps Are Coming Back To Haunt Him)
President Trump on abortion:
"You have to win elections, otherwise you're going to be back to where you were… They've used this issue to decimate Republicans on this issue… There has to be a little bit of a concession." pic.twitter.com/NW6qJWI8pL

Trump also emphasized the need for Republicans to find consensus on the issue to win elections.
“Otherwise you are going to be back where you were and you can’t let that ever happen again,” Trump said.
“I think the issue of abortion is one of the main drivers for young people to vote Democratic,” Republican Teresa Probst said.
The discussion around abortion has become increasingly prominent in the Iowa caucuses, and both Trump and other Republican figures have faced scrutiny regarding their positions on the matter.
“As Trump proudly brags he was the one who got rid of Roe v. Wade, paving the way for Republican extremists across the country to pass draconian bans that are hurting women and threatening doctors … one-in-three women of reproductive age now live under an abortion ban,” Biden-Harris campaign manager Julie Chavez Rodriguez said.
“The Democrats put fear in women on abortion and Republicans have used judgment. This is too personal of an issue to put fear or judgment. Our goal should be how do we save as many babies as possible and support as many moms as possible,” Nikki Haley said.
