Taylor Swift’s team is reportedly displeased with a New York Times op-ed suggesting that she may be “queer.”
The op-ed implies that Swift has dropped hints about her sexuality in her work, referencing aspects of her artistry and clothing choices.

Taylor Swift’s associates are ‘dismayed’ at the publication of a 5,000-word New York Times opinion piece that openly speculated on her sexuality and whether she is a closeted queer person, CNN reports:

“There seems to be no boundary some journalists won’t cross when writing about Taylor, regardless of how invasive, untrue, and inappropriate it is – all under the protective veil of an ‘opinion piece,’” an inside source noted.
“Because of her massive success, in this moment there is a Taylor-shaped hole in people’s ethics,” they added.
“In isolation, a single dropped hairpin is perhaps meaningless or accidental, but considered together, they’re the unfurling of a ballerina bun after a long performance,” Marks wrote.
“Those dropped hairpins began to appear in Ms. Swift’s artistry long before queer identity was undeniably marketable to mainstream America. They suggest to queer people that she is one of us.”
“Sometimes, Ms. Swift communicates through explicit sartorial choices — hair the colors of the bisexual pride flag or a recurring motif of rainbow dresses. She frequently depicts herself as trapped in glass closets or, well, in regular closets,” she wrote.
“The aesthetic of what would be known as the ‘Lover Era’ emerged as rainbows, butterflies and pastel shades of blue, purple and pink, colors that subtly evoke the bisexual pride flag,” Marks added.
Despite Swift’s support for the LGBTQ community, she previously denied rumors about her sexuality.
The op-ed has sparked controversy, with Swift’s team expressing dissatisfaction over the invasion of her privacy and the inaccuracy of the insinuations.
