Florida Governor Ron DeSantis expressed concerns that nominating Donald Trump for the 2024 election would shift the focus to Trump’s legal issues rather than the nation’s challenges under President Biden.

DeSantis aims to appeal to undecided Iowa Republicans, positioning himself as an alternative to Trump and highlighting the risks of a Biden-Trump rematch for the GOP.

He emphasized his ability to deliver for the party’s base and criticized Trump’s performance on key issues. (Trending: Fox News Star Accused Of Major Scandal)

DeSantis said, “It raises the issue for Republicans: ‘What do we want the 2024 election to be about?’”

“If Donald Trump is the nominee, the election is going to be about legal issues, criminal trials, Jan. 6. It’ll be a referendum on him,” he explained.

“There are a lot of people that want to vote for Republicans, but I think that there’s a lot that are not going to do the Trump stuff. That’s just the reality,” DeSantis continued.

“I’m the candidate who’s most in tune with the values of Iowa Republicans,” said the Florida governor.

“I think if you’re a conservative, I’m your guy,” he concluded.

DeSantis is actively working to show that Trump is beatable and believes that a Trump-focused 2024 election could alienate potential Republican voters.

He urged voters not to stick with Biden due to Trump’s legal problems and emphasized his alignment with the values of Iowa Republicans.

Meanwhile, Trump made a court appearance in Washington, facing skepticism about his defense case regarding immunity from prosecution.
