House Republicans have introduced resolutions to hold Hunter Biden in contempt of Congress for defying their subpoenas.
Both the House Oversight and Judiciary committees have detailed the events leading to this decision and plan to hold hearings to consider the resolutions.
If passed, the full House will vote on a final resolution, which could lead to the Department of Justice deciding whether to prosecute Biden for contempt.

“Mr. Biden’s flagrant defiance of the Committees’ deposition subpoenas — while choosing to appear nearby on the Capitol grounds to read a prepared statement on the same matters — is contemptuous, and he must be held accountable for his unlawful actions,” wrote the Republicans.
This action comes after Biden declined to appear for a closed-door deposition and instead made public remarks in Washington, D.C., stating his willingness to testify only at a public hearing.
