During the Capitol riot on January 6, 2021, a report reveals that as the events unfolded, Donald Trump was hesitant to call in additional law enforcement and instead spent time watching television and making calls.
His former aide, Dan Scavino, attempted to persuade him to send a forceful message to the protesters, eventually drafting a tweet urging peaceful behavior.
However, Trump initially resisted and posted a different tweet criticizing then-Vice President Mike Pence. (Trending: Fox News Star Accused Of Major Scandal)
After further urging, Trump posted a tweet urging calm.
The report also highlights Trump’s reluctance to put out more messages on Twitter.
The former president’s spokesperson dismissed the report as second-hand hearsay, emphasizing Trump’s position in the case.
“Media fascination with second-hand hearsay shows just how weak the Witch-Hunt against President Trump is,” a Trump spokesperson stated.
“Dan Scavino is one of President Trump’s longest-serving, most loyal allies, and his actual testimony shows just how strong President Trump is positioned in this case.”
