Despite a decline in youth tackle football participation, there was a slight increase in 2023.
According to a California Interscholastic Federation’s participation survey 84,626 were injured in 2022 playing tackle football.
The survey reported 89,178 players were injured in 2023.
If the bill passes, the ban would not take effect until 2026.
