House Republicans are intensifying their investigation into the White House’s decision to allow the housing of migrants on public land in New York, citing environmental concerns.

They have raised questions about the environmental approval process and accused the White House of obstructing Congress’ oversight power.

Additionally, they have highlighted the bypassing of the normal environmental review process and expressed concern about using national park land for migrant housing. (Trending: First Moon Mission In 50 Years Blasts Off)

“Your silence and lack of a response to the Committee Letter suggests that CEQ is deliberately engaging in obstruction to frustrate the oversight power of Congress. This is unacceptable,” Natural Resources Committee Chairman Bruce Westerman and Rep. Paul Gosar wrote.

“The American public deserves transparency, and the Committee will use every tool at its disposal to administer effective oversight and fulfill the Committee’s responsibility to the American people.”

“Despite concerns with the legality of housing people on national park land, the Biden administration ultimately moved forward with using national park land to establish a migrant housing encampment,” they added.

“Alarmingly, to secure the FBF Lease, NPS requested and received alternative arrangements for National Environmental Policy Act compliance.”

This investigation coincides with a surge in migrant numbers at the southern border.
