Pro-Palestinian protesters in Toronto received support from police who delivered food and coffee, sparking criticism and accusations of endangering public safety.
The ongoing bridge blockades in a prominent Jewish area have raised concerns about law enforcement’s handling of the situation, with some condemning the police for their actions.

“Police serving coffee and food to protesters will just embolden more deliberate obstruction of traffic, undermine public safety, and add to local frustrations,” Parliament member Marco Mendicino said.
“Laws exist to prevent this. They need to be enforced!” he added.
“Are our brave police officers being encouraged to act as Uber Eats drivers by our political leaders? This is unacceptable,” B’nai Brith Canada CEO Michael Mostyn said.
“Anti-semitism is not a punchline, but today it was made into one by strategists who clearly have no comprehension of the damage they are doing to our country.”
“Their top priority is maintaining order in a tense environment on the Avenue Road bridge,” Toronto police spokeswoman Laurie McCann said.
“In performing a helpful act today, our officers’ motivation was to help keep tensions low and should not be interpreted as showing support for any cause or group.”
The demonstrations stem from the Israel-Hamas conflict, which has led to global instability, with criticism directed at the Biden administration for its response to various international crises.
