The owner of a Compton bakery, Ruben’s Bakery & Mexican Food, reported $70,000 in damages after more than 100 looters crashed a car into the store and ransacked it.

The incident occurred following an illegal street takeover nearby. The owner, Ruben Ramirez Jr., expressed frustration and a desire to rebuild the family business.

“This has never happened to us before. We’ve seen ‘street takeovers’ in the area, but it’s never anything like this,” owner Ruben Ramirez Jr. said. (Trending: Joe Biden Sets New Presidential Record)

“The worst is seeing my parents, who built something for over 48 years, to almost lose it because of this violence that’s going on right now.”

“These street takeovers in Compton have been getting worse and worse, and I’m not the only one frustrated. My neighbors here are telling me the same thing.”

“I do hope they see justice, but more than anything I just want my business back. I want to be able to serve the community how we’ve been doing it for all these years and make everybody happy with our food,” Ramirez added.

The community has also been affected by ongoing street takeovers and retail theft, with no arrests made in connection to the looting.
