President Joe Biden faced protests during a campaign speech in South Carolina, where he addressed the Israel-Hamas conflict, emphasized his commitment to democracy, and criticized former President Donald Trump.
Speculation about his potential withdrawal from the 2024 race due to health concerns has emerged, with predictions of a replacement candidate named by the Democratic National Committee.

“I understand their passion,” Biden said. “I’ve been quietly working with the Israeli government to get them to reduce and significantly get out of Gaza.”
Concerns about Vice President Kamala Harris’s unpopularity and Biden’s trailing poll numbers have prompted some to urge him to drop out, citing worries about his age and mental capacity.
The New York Times/Siena College poll highlighted discontent with Biden’s policies and concerns about his effectiveness as a leader.
“Only Joe Biden can make this decision. If he continues to run, he will be the nominee of the Democratic Party,” David Axelrod wrote. “What he needs to decide is whether that is wise; whether it’s in HIS best interest or the country’s?”
“It’s very late to change horses; a lot will happen in the next year that no one can predict & Biden’s team says his resolve to run is firm. He’s defied CW before but this will send tremors of doubt thru the party–not ‘bed-wetting,’ but legitimate concern,” he added.
“The greatest concern is that his biggest liability is the one thing he can’t change. Among all the unpredictables there is one thing that is sure: the age arrow only points in one direction,” he wrote.
