President Biden referenced the recent shooting at Iowa’s Perry High School during a speech at Mother Emanuel AME Church in Charleston, South Carolina.

Despite this, he advocated for gun control measures that would not have prevented the shooting, which was carried out by a 17-year-old armed with a pump shotgun and a small caliber handgun.

The proposed measures, including an “assault weapons” ban and universal background checks, would not have applied to the weapons used in the shooting. (Trending: Fox News Star Accused Of Major Scandal)

Gun control advocates also responded to the incident by pushing for an “assault weapons” ban, despite the weapons used not falling under this category.
