Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie has recanted his support for Donald Trump, stating that he was wrong in endorsing him for president in 2016.

In a new digital ad, Christie openly admits to his mistake, expressing his disapproval of Trump’s candidacy and presidency.

The ad is part of a significant ad buy in New Hampshire, targeting areas where rival Nikki Haley is holding town halls. (Trending: Pro Sport Announces Shock Decision On Transgender Athletes)

Christie aims to contrast his style and truthfulness with Trump’s, emphasizing his opposition to both Trump and Joe Biden as viable choices.

“I have an admission to make,” Christie said.

“Eight years ago when I decided to endorse Donald Trump for president, I did it because he was winning, and I did it because I thought I could make him a better candidate and a better president. Well, I was wrong; I made a mistake.”

We will continue to do so as we make the contrast in style and willingness to the tell the truth as clear for voters as possible,” a Christie spokesperson said.

Recent polls show Christie trailing behind Haley and Trump in New Hampshire.

“Donald Trump is ahead in the polls and so everyone says, ‘Anyone who’s behind him should drop out, and we should make our choice: Donald Trump versus Joe Biden,'” Christie said.

“Neither choice is acceptable to me, and it shouldn’t be acceptable to you,” he said.
