Andrew Yang criticized President Joe Biden and the Democratic Party for suppressing potential challengers in the primary elections, despite Biden’s rhetoric about defending democracy.
Biden’s plan to reshuffle the primary order and exclusion from certain state ballots has raised concerns.
While Biden emphasized the threat of Donald Trump’s potential return, polls indicate waning confidence in Biden’s leadership. (Trending: U.S. State Passes Personal Pronoun Ban)
Look I vastly prefer Biden and would never vote for Trump. But saying you’re defending democracy while suppressing a primary in your own party is ridiculous.

“Look I vastly prefer Biden and would never vote for Trump. But saying you’re defending democracy while suppressing a primary in your own party is ridiculous,” wrote Yang.
“Joe Biden referenced George Washington several times in his Valley Forge speech yesterday. More than anything, George Washington knew when to step aside,” added Yang in a later post.
“Whether democracy is still America’s sacred cause is what the 2024 election is all about,” said Biden.
“The choice is clear. Donald Trump’s campaign is about him, not America, not you. Donald Trump’s campaign is obsessed with the past, not the future. He’s willing to sacrifice our democracy to put himself in power. Our campaign is different,” continued the President.
Critics argue that the actions of the Democratic Party are undermining democracy.
“Democrats suppressing competition, suppressing voters, and suppressing debate,” wrote Rep. Dean Phillips. “In America, coronating an unelectable candidate and disenfranchising voters enables the erosion of democracy itself,” he continued.
Despite this, Biden is expected to secure the party’s nomination, facing limited competition.
