Rapper-actor 50 Cent criticized California for using taxpayer money to provide health care for illegal immigrants, expressing confusion and concern over the cost and the lack of health insurance for veterans.
California recently expanded health insurance coverage under Medi-Cal to about 700,000 illegal immigrants between the ages of 26 and 49.
This move follows previous expansions for illegal migrant children and young adults. (Trending: Trump Announces Heartbreaking Melania-Related Health Update)
“I don’t understand this, this it going to cost 2.6 billion dollars for tax payers,” wrote 50 Cent on Instagram.
“They don’t even give veterans health insurance. [MSNBC anchor Ari Melber] call my phone now, help me understand this —-. WTF,” he continued.
The state government emphasized the importance of providing access to quality and affordable health care for everyone, regardless of income or immigration status.
“In California, we believe everyone deserves access to quality, affordable health care coverage — regardless of income or immigration status,” wrote Gov. Newsom’s office in a statement.
“Through this expansion, we’re making sure families and communities across California are healthier, stronger, and able to get the care they need when they need it,” they continued.
