David Soul, known for his role in the 1970s “Starsky and Hutch” series, has passed away at 80.
His wife confirmed his death after a battle for his life, describing him as a beloved actor, singer, and storyteller.
Soul’s success in the show led to roles in films and a music career, with chart-topping singles in 1977.

Soul’s wife, Helen Snell wrote, “David Soul – beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother – died yesterday after a valiant battle for life in the loving company of family.”
“He shared many extraordinary gifts in the world as actor, singer, storyteller, creative artist and dear friend. His smile, laughter and passion for life will be remembered by the many whose lives he has touched,” he continued.
The “Starsky and Hutch” legacy continued with a 2004 film adaptation.
Soul is survived by his fifth wife and six children from previous marriages.
