House Democrats released a report revealing that Trump’s businesses received at least $7.8 million in payments from foreign governments during his presidency, a violation of the Constitution’s Emoluments Clause.
The report highlighted payments from countries such as China and Saudi Arabia.
Despite warnings and legal concerns, Trump continued to profit from these payments.
“Donald Trump, while holding the office of president, used his business entities to pocket millions of dollars from foreign states and royalty and never once went to Congress to seek its consent,” Rep. Jamie Raskin wrote.
The report calls for legislative measures to enforce the Emoluments Clause and highlights the need to hold public officials accountable for violating the Constitution.
