Senator Lindsey Graham urged President Joe Biden to prioritize securing the southern border in order to secure more aid for Ukraine.
Graham emphasized the need to address the migrant situation and implement border security measures, including deportations, to turn things around quickly and gain support for Ukraine.
The comments come as Senate talks on tying border security reforms to aid for U.S. allies, including Ukraine, are set to resume, with the Biden administration seeking additional funding for national security priorities.
Graham said, “Accept the idea that we’re full. Take the tools we’re willing to give you to stop the inflow.”
Graham stressed the importance of addressing the broken border system before providing aid to Ukraine and other countries.
