Snoop Dogg, the iconic rapper and former Martha Stewart collaborator, has been hired by NBC as a “special correspondent” for the 2024 Summer Olympic Games in Paris.
He will offer his unique perspective on the competitions, visit landmarks, and interview athletes.
NBCUniversal plans to livestream all Olympic events on Peacock and hopes Snoop will help differentiate their broadcast. (Trending: Donald Trump Breaks His Silence After Major Court Win)
“I grew up watching the Olympics and am thrilled to see the incredible athletes bring their A-game to Paris,” Snoop Dogg stated. “It’s a celebration of skill, dedication and the pursuit of greatness.”
“It’s going to be the most epic Olympics ever, so stay tuned, and keep it locked,” Snoop added.
“Let’s elevate, celebrate and make these games unforgettable, smoke the competition, and may the best shine like gold. Peace and Olympic LOVE, ya dig?”
Snoop’s transition from a 1990s gangsta rapper to a family-friendly figure has led to diverse partnerships, including commentating the 2021 Tokyo Olympics.
“Snoop is already an Olympic gold medal commentator, generating tens of millions of views for his highlights commentary on Peacock of the dressage competition during the Tokyo Olympics,” Molly Solomon, president of NBC Olympics Production, said.
“That performance alone has earned Snoop a job as our Special Correspondent in Paris,” she added.
“We don’t know what the heck is going to happen every day, but we know he will add his unique perspective to our reimagined Olympic primetime show.”
The 2024 Summer Olympics will run from July 26 to August 11 on NBC and Peacock.
